Accessing Healthcare
In an emergency always call 999 immediately.
The local GP surgery is in Burnham Market – The Burnhams Surgery. The surgery can deliver prescription medicine to those aged over 70 and infirm, and to those with a disability, who have no other means of visiting. Deliveries are made to Deepdale, Staithe and Brancaster on Tuesdays between 9.30 and 1.30 – the recipient must be at home to receive the medicine – please call 01328-737000 to arrange. The Community Car Scheme may be able to help with getting to the surgery for appointments.
The local hospital is the Queen Elizabeth in King’s Lynn. QEH website.
It is not always easy to find a dentist, particularly one providing NHS treatment. This is best done through the NHS “how to find a dentist” webpage.
We have also been asked to publicise the Norfolk Falls Project to assist those who fall, and when Ambulance delays may make getting assistance difficult.
Defibrillators
There are several defibrillators in the local area.
In an emergency, always ring 999 first. You will be directed to the nearest functioning device, with instructions on how to access and use it (by a second person). They will remain on the line throughout this process, giving advice. The critical thing is to begin CPR immediately and not leave to look for the defibrillator.
