Tides

Those who do not live locally may not be familiar with the problems caused by tides.

There are two aspects – your personal safety when on the Beach, and the fact that Beach Road is affected by tidal flooding.

If you are walking out to sea from the Beach, always be aware that tides move quickly and you may be cut off. Link to tide timetables. (These are provided by the Golf Club and focus on access to the Beach – they open in a new window. There is a link below to more general tide information.)

There is also a webcam provided by National Coastwatch, a group which Council supports. Brancaster Beach live webcam

The Beach Car Park, which is run by the Golf Club, gets cut off when the tides exceed 8m. Salt water and vehicles do not mix! Also, please note that if traffic is backing up onto the A149, it is likely that the Car Park is full – there is absolutely no point joining a queue at this point…
