The Parish Council has the power to award grants to local organisations (not individuals) which are to the benefit of the local community. Where there is no other specific power to fund them Council may use Sec.137 of the Local Government Act, 1972. Where we have a power fund projects in the village which are commensurate with those who may benefit from the grant.
We focus on grants for specific projects rather than running costs. This is all outlined in our policy, which includes an application form. This was designed to be as transparent a process as possible, with suggested figures to ensure we are as fair as we can be between those applying. We are limited to the total amount we can donate under s.137 in any financial year.
