Norfolk Council Council propose to make the following order under the Rpoad Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Road Closure – B1454 Sedgeford Road (Feb 20th 8am to Feb 24th-25th, 9am – 3pm)
Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (WTRO6577) affecting the B1454 Sedgeford Road from 10 metres west of its junction with C88 Docking Road for 400 metres westwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Docking to facilitate carriageway patching works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 09:00 and 15:00 from 24th to 25th February 2026, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 8th April 2026 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.
Alternative route is via: Sedgeford Road, Docking Road, Heacham Road, Redgate Hill, Kings Lynn Road, Cromer Road, Old Town Way, Old Hunstanton Road, Main Road, Thornham Road, High Street, Mill Road, Brancaster Road, Station Road, Well Street, Chequers Street (Titchwell, Old Hunstanton, Heacham, Thornham, Hunstanton, Holme-Next-The-Sea, Brancaster, Sedgeford, Docking).
The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: Norfolk County Council.
Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.
The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 8th April 2026 without further notice.
If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.
A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

Recent Works Update – 2025
Restorative Justice – What Have They Done for the Parish?
The Introduction and use of Restorative Justice (probation service) to Brancaster in 2025 has been a great success the Parish Council provide fulfilling and meaningful work that enables a difference to be made to the community of Brancaster. The labour is free and the council are only responsible for the cost of materials used.
- Playing field/footpath Brancaster – Cut and cleared.
- Cutting of hedges to Brancaster playing field and clearance.
- Tree clearance at Brancaster Staithe.
- Cleaning and painting of main Bus stop Brancaster.
- St. Marys Brancaster churchyard, clearing of gravel paths, Ivy and brambles and gravestones. Work ongoing.
- Preparation of wrought iron railings/gates into churchyard, with wire brushes, followed by painting with black Hammerite. Not yet started and weather dependant.
Parish Council
- The Christmas lights have been added to and Christmas trees planted at Brancaster and Staithe.
- Salt Grit Box installed at the top of London Street.
- Signs on both Telephone boxes in Staithe and Brancaster: Wording says. BOOK EXCHANGE.
- New Village Map installed to the main Brancaster bus stop.
Future works
- Remedial and improvement work Village Green Brancaster Staithe.
- Car park works Brancaster Village Hall.
- Maintenance to railings Beach Road Brancaster.
- Maintenance and painting of railings cemetery.

White Ribbon Day 2025: We Speak Up
We campaign to end men’s violence against women and girls by educating men and boys on the harmful attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate misogynistic cultures.
This year the theme is: Letting sexism slide puts women and girls at risk
Along with many city, borough, town and parish councils Brancaster Parish Council is a signatory to White Ribbon, the organisation which reaches out to men to speak out when then hear or see sexism, often the pre-cursor to violence towards women and girls and to make our part of the world safe for them. This is an issue that affects all of us. A group of men were so concerned by the increasing violence towards women and men that they decided to recruit men to be ambassadors reaching out to other men and boys to safely intervene when they see and hear such violence and misogyny.

Dear Residents,
The end of summer approaches and the days get shorter.
Flood Signs
The new signs have had a few initial teething problems but they continue to make a positive difference to both Villagers and visitors.
Restorative Justice
Every Saturday during the summer the restorative justice team have made a positive impact in the village, their work at the playing field continues with positive visual impact to the hedge.
VJ Day Celebrations
The Council give their thanks to Brigadier Wakefield for his informative lecture and Mary, Joan and Katie for the refreshments, an event enjoyed by all the Parish.
Tennis Week
Concern has been raised in respect of the anti-social behaviour experienced at Brancaster Village Hall Playing field. The Council and the Village Hall will meet with the Police and seek reassurances in respect dealing with this behaviour for next years event.
TRO Traffic Regulation Order
The Parish Council received lots of feedback, from members of the public both positive and negative. The Consultation has now closed and Norfolk County Council Highways will now consider all feedback before coming back to the Parish Council with their revised proposal. It is anticipated the process will take approximately 8 weeks.

School Closure
You will have heard of the proposals to close the Village School, merging it with Docking School.
There has been much anger and discontent about this proposal across the Parish. Meetings are still ongoing looking at a way forward; though the official deadline has passed, please feel free to send your comments to DNEAT – info@dneat.org.
Council has no formal role in this – in fact we were not even informed of the proposal. However, we have agreed a comment, approved at our meeting on 5th November. This has now been sent to DNEAT (the local School Trust), with copies to MP, County and Borough Cllrs, the Secretary of State for Education, and the Bishops of Lynn and Norwich (the Board is a Diocesan one).

Bicycle Racks
You may have seen two new bicycle racks at the two Village Halls. A third will be appearing shortly at Brancaster Staithe on NT Land.
These have been provided by the Borough Council with a grant via the Rural England Prosperity Fund, and we thank the Borough for its assistance. The PC paid for installation and is responsible for ongoing maintenance.
